As a medical doctor I witness and help to cope with the inevitable loss of health and function of older people. As a scientist I unravel the determinants of healthy longevity to make it better for longer. As director of Leyden Academy I promote a mindset change to accommodate the demographic revolution: not to focus on preventing people from dying but to facilitate vitality for the individual and our society.

Rudi GJ Westendorp is an internationally renowned physician, researcher and bestselling author.
