Since 2017, Beutenberg Campus Jena e.V. has invited selected postdocs and students in the final stage of their doctorates to the annual workshop ‘Careersteps in Life Sciences and Physics’.
During this workshop, young researchers from Beutenberg Campus are given suggestions and support for their individual career planning. The encounter with speakers from the public lecture series by Nobel laureates – ‘Noble Gespräche’– is intended to open their eyes to possible personal and career goals. At the same time, clear options are presented, together with descriptions of the early stages of various career alternatives with local companies. In a friendly atmosphere, participants have the opportunity to consider how to position themselves and, with the help of specific examples, to reflect on the paths they should take. In a second, more individualised session, the participants clearly define their next career steps and define what they need to do to prepare themselves.
This event is funded by the ‘Carl Zeiss Foundation’.
The next workshop will take place on Friday 26 October 2018. Our guest will be the renowned virologist Prof. Ralf Bartenschlager of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and Heidelberg University Hospital.
