UKJ Seminars on Research in Healthy Ageing

Prof. Christian Eggeling's research focuses on the application and development of ultra-sensitive fluorescence microscopy techniques for living cells with a resolution down to the molecular level. He studied physics at the University of Hamburg and Georg-August University in Göttingen, performing his PhD work at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry (MPIbpc) in Göttingen and afterwards joining the Biotechnology company Evotec in Hamburg. In 2003 Prof. Eggeling joined the Research Group headed by the Nobel laureate Stefan Hell at the MPIbpc. In 2012 he took a position as Professor of Molecular Immunology and Scientific Director of the Wolfson Imaging Centre at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford, UK. In 2017 he accepted a position as Professor of Superresolution Microscopy in the Physics Faculty of the Friedrich-Schiller University and the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology in Jena.
