Festveranstaltung zum 25-jährigen Bestehen des Beutenberg-Campus Jena e.V.

Anlässlich des 25-jährigen Bestehens des Beutenberg-Campus Jena e.V. findet im Rahmen der öffentlichen Vortragsreihe „Noble Gespräche“ eine Festveranstaltung im Abbe-Zentrum Beutenberg statt. Bei der Jubiläumsveranstaltung werden Referenten aus Politik, Wissenschaft und der Universität erwartet. Die Jubiläumsveranstaltung bringt die Perspektiven von Wissenschaft, Forschung und Entwicklung sowie Politik und Hochschulen zusammen. Als Vertreter der Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung eröffnet Thüringens Minister für Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Digitale Gesellschaft, Wolfgang Tiefensee, das Programm. Anschließend spricht der Vizepräsident der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität für Digitalisierung, Prof. Dr. Christoph Steinbeck, bevor der Vorstandsvorsitzende des Beutenberg-Campus Jena e.V., Prof. Dr. Peter Zipfel, einen kurzen Rückblick auf die vergangenen 25 Jahre werfen und Zukunftsperspektiven aufzeigen wird. Danach wird erstmalig ein Wissenschaftspreis Lebenswissenschaften und Physik  in der neu eingeführten Kategorie „Exzellente interdisziplinäre Kooperation“ verliehen. Mit diesem Preis soll die gute fachübergreifende Zusammenarbeit am Beutenberg Campus gewürdigt und das Zusammenspiel der Institute gefördert werden, mit dem Ziel, durch optimale Synergien Mehrwerte zu schaffen. Musikalisch wird die Festveranstaltung von dem Vokalensemble „Octavians“ begleitet. Höhepunkt der Veranstaltung ist der Festvortrag des renommierten Pflanzenökologen, Prof. Dr. Christian Wirth.  

Hinweis: Die Noblen Gespräche  werden zusätzlich als Livestream angeboten. Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich. 
Der Vortrag wird auf Englisch gehalten. Der Eintritt ist frei!

„Ultrafast Photochemistry in the Origins of Life”

The first molecular building blocks of life, such as RNA, DNA, peptides, and lipids emerged on Earth over 3.5 billion years ago. Due to the absence of the ozone layer, ultraviolet (UV) irradiation as deep as 200 nm could penetrate to the surface of the early Earth and likely acted as an energy source to assemble the building blocks of life from simple feedstock molecules. This talk will give a broad interdisciplinary overview of the role of UV light for the origins of life on Earth or Earth-like exoplanets and summarize recent laboratory results by spectroscopic techniques such as ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy.
